Patient Support Groups
The Patient Support Group is organized by patients who have already undergone weight loss surgery. It is the most popular support event we offer. We have grown and now offer two patient support groups: The Bypass patient support group and the Lap-Band patient support group.
The doctors encourage patients to take advantage of these support groups. Often patients can communicate or reach each other in ways a doctor may not. It is an opportunity to make friends and to learn about the “Tool” in a very supportive and motivational environment. Many patients at the meetings will exchange clothing to help get them through the fast weight loss period.
The Patient Support Group meets on Saturdays at 10:00am. The next meetings are

Behavior Modification Class
The Behavior Modification Class is a formal instructional class lead by a psychologist. The major goal of the class is to help patients identify and then start changing their eating behaviors. There are many things we want to teach our patients about their “Tool”. The behavior modification class is yet another opportunity to learn more about ourselves and our relationships with food, to help our patients improve upon their weight loss success.
The doctors strongly encourage patients to take advantage of these classes. They believe that if patients invest the necessary learning time in the beginning, their long term weight loss success improves.

Nutrition Class
The Nutrition Class is yet another formal instructional class lead by a nutritionist. The goals for this class are many. It is very difficult for us to teach our patients about nutrition and the changes that weight loss surgery will impose on how they eat during routine office visits, so we have created this class to help us do that.
In a compliant patient, weight loss surgery can very effectively control food portions (about 1 cup of food per meal, 3 times per day). So much so that we have to make sure the meals are adequate in nutrition. Patients cannot afford to eat everything and anything anymore because they simply eat too little amounts of food. During the class you will learn about general nutrition, what we mean by solid foods, how to identify good quality protein and carbohydrates, portion size, how to eat with your specific operation, how to avoid cheating the operation and more….
The doctors strongly encourage patients to take advantage of these classes. They believe that if patients invest the necessary learning time in the beginning, their long term weight loss success improves.
